Crazy, Stupid, Love. (2011)

Yesterday - With no interest, I started watching "Crazy, Stupid, Love"..
To be frank - I was not sure what to expect from this movie, but surprisingly it turned out to be both a comedy and a nice drama with emotional depth and a few twists.. It was touching in a lot of ways..
"Crazy, Stupid, Love" was directed by unknown (to my knowledge) Director Duo - Glenn Ficarra & John Requa, with Steve Carell & Julianne More in lead roles..

Steve & Juliana - a forty Plus aged married couple, have decided to get divorce..
Well, Julianne decided it because now she has been unfaithful to Steve, due to the fact of more of boredom &  lust (thinking Steve is no longer romancing her like he did when they were young)..
In reality, neither Steve nor Julianne are bad people..  Its just a honest reflection of how a marriage can go stale..

After learning of his wife’s infidelity, Steve is befriended by a womanizer Ryan Gosling (who is successful in seducing as many women as he can)..  Apparently feeling sorry for the dejected Steve, Ryan helped him in Re-Discovering his manhood & taught him how to pick up girls and pretty soon Steve becomes an expert on seducing women.. But, Despite Steve's all makeovers and his new conquests - It is his heart which keeps leading him back to where he began.. Yes, Emotions on our heart is always stronger than logics in our brain, ryt.. :-)

Also, We have couple of sub plots in this movie..
> Emma Stone, a teen aged girl who Ryan failed to conquer with his charisma at the first, re-enters his life.. Ryan was trying to make use of the opportunity, but She starts asking funny questions and they end up talking and laughing the entire night instead.. This was the first time Ryan makes a personal connection with a girl and then he discovered what 'being in love' is really about & begins contemplating settling down with her.. (There's a nice little surprise regarding Emma in this movie.. If you watch the movie you will see what I mean)..
> 17 year old babysitter Jessica's (played by Analeigh Tipton) crush on Steve, but at the same time Steve's 13 year old son Robbie (played by Jonah Bobo) is also in love with Jessica.. I really loved Robbie's determination and honesty, with regards to how he felt about Jessica..  It was so cute & adorable.. I wont say everyone has, but i had a sort of crush with a much elder lady in my tender age.. :-)
On total, there were three set of couples & all the characters intertwine with each other at one point or another made this movie more hilarious..

All the casts were well chosen and I felt each did a stupendous job in bringing everyone's struggles to light..  In Particular,
> Steve Carell - who is well known for his for his standup comedy shows in "Saturday Night Live" & his 2005 Box Office Hit "The 40 Year Old Virgin" - brings a solid performance.. He stole the entire show.. Undoubtedly, this is Steve's best performance since "The 40 year Old Virgin".. You can feel what he feels throughout the movie..
> Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone are very talented young actors and the chemistry between both of them was really believable..

Both the Dialogues & Background  Score are extremely good..

Few Dialogues to mention..
After Julianne revealed her wish on divorce:
Julianne: I don't know when you and I stopped being us. I mean, do you?
Steve: Maybe it's when you screwed David Lindhagen.
(David is the one who has affair with Steve's wife).
Steve blabbering in the Bar after the start of seperation with his wife:
Steve: You know a word that is not used very often anymore? - "Cuckold.". Yes, I'm a cuckold.
Ryan Gosling advising to Steve Carell:
Ryan: So, let's talk about how many women you've been with.
Steve: Sexually?
Ryan: Yeah.
Steve: One.
Ryan: No. Not at one time.
----------------------------------------
Ryan: You gotta take control of your manhood, pal. You know?
You want something, you take it.. You don't like something, you say it..
I take what I want..
Steve: David Lindhagen, he certainly took what he wanted, didn't he?
When Jonah visited Julianne's Office:
Jonah: I heard you crying in the bedroom the other night. I didn't know what to do.
Julianne: Oh, Robbie, baby, you're 13, you're not supposed to know what to do.
Jonah: I tried Googling it.
Julianne: - Well, what did you Google?
Jonah: I searched "Mom crying in bed".
Julianne: what did Google say?
Jonah: Just a... bunch of weird videos of moms in bed.
Julianne: Ugh. Oh, God. Okay. All right, that's enough. No more.
Steve's speech at Jonah's graduation day ceremonyn:
Steve: I have loved her even when I've hated 'er. Only married couples will understand that one.
I will never stop trying.Because when you find the one...you never give up.

At the end, after Jonah Bobo gets graduated:
Jonah Bobo: Sorry if I made you uncomfortable.
Analeigh Tipton: - I thought you weren't giving up.
Jonah Bobo: I'm not. But I just figure...
you like my dad. and in a few years, I'll look like him.
I'll come for you then.
Analeigh Tipton: That's not a bad plan.

On the whole, I found myself laughing, smiling, and enjoying much more than I thought..
That's what entertainment is all about..
Yes, "Crazy, Stupid, Love" is a Light-Hearted, Entertaining, Romantic-Comedy, that is definitely worth watching..
It has something for everyone..

Butterfly on a Wheel (2007)

In my last post, We have seen Robin Williams played as a villain in "Insomnia"..
This time, Its Pierce Brosnan's turn in this infamous/underrated  movie "Shattered (Butterfly on a wheel)"..
"Butterfly on a Wheel" - directed by Mike Barker (who impressed me well with his "Best Laid Plans") with Pierce Brosnan, Maria Bello & Gerard Butler in the lead roles..

Story line in short - "It circles around an young married couple's fight with a kidnapper who got their child"..
Thats it..I am not gonna elaborate it more.. Because, Shattered is a movie that you really need to stay away from watching/reading too much about it.. Reading up on too much information can spoil the entire movie for you..

"Butterfly on a Wheel" is truly a great suspense Thriller.. For the whole 90 minutes, I was working out to find what the plot is all about.. Is it a sort of Psycho act? or Business related rival's act?..
Well, I got answered at its twist ending..

Honestly speaking, I watched "Butterfly on a Wheel" only for Pierce Brosnan (As always, He is Awesome!!)..
His transformation as a Bad Guy is an excellent move (after his Bond series movies) & it worked out well in this movie..
After "The Thomas Crown Affair", this is - without a doubt the best performance he has done..
Especialy in the denouement scene, Brosnan almost humanizing in his acting..

I loved Pierce Brosnan's intro.. With the menacing backround music, He is introduced with a cool helicopter shot that swoops in over the Chicago city, angles down for a overhead view of rooftops, finally ending with Brosnan on one of those roofs.. In the same continuos shot, the camera swings around him who is surveying the city through binoculars..
(I read a article about this shot.. Mike Barker reveals that this once single shot is actually a combination of multipe different shots.. Seriuolsy, I could not detect those cuts.. It was such a superb-flawless editing..)

Apart from Pierce Brosnan - Maria Bello & Gerard Butler played as the impacted couple gave a decent performance..

As i said earlier - Dont get into any ideas.. Just, Go & watch.. You will not be shattered..:-)
The less you know - the more you will enjoy!!
